What legitimacy do those who feel faith is immoral. I refuse to submit. The WT can't rule me; neither can anyone else. Why leave the Witnesses to have some dingaling make decisions, The very question is presumptous.

Is Faith Immoral?
by Coded Logic inwhen people willfully believe something without evidence, or contrary to evidence, are they neglecting thier moral responsibility?
so many people say faith is a virtue but i just can't comprehend why anyone would think that.

JAH would know a stray thought. I always hated meetings and conventions. No one in my entire family believed they would survive Armageddon which is why I cared so much about Armageddon. The world was going to come to an end in the early sixties. The Bay of Pigs, the Cuban Missle Crisis. My mom told me that a Soviet ship was going to run the blockade. I thought that I had hours to live at the most. Mind you, this is not accurate history but what we believed. We used to practice an A bomb landing. I always wondered what type of JW could be so certain they would survive.

How many Isaiah's prophecies of chapter 19 were fulfilled?
by opusdei1972 ini have read the chapter 19 of isaiah, which scholars of high criticism believe to be authentic, of isaiah himself.
in this chapter there are more than one prophecy for egypt.
my question is, how many of them you found fullfilled and unfulfilled?....

Prophecies are not causation. There can be no fulfilled prophecy unless it is a weird accident. One would think the WT would give up after its track record.

I don't see my faith as illogical. It is logical. Further, it is my lifestyle choice. It is impossible for me to judge whether someone's faith is immoral. I've attended various faiths. Not one was so bad as people here argue. Faith can be good or bad. It is my choice. Choice. A mark of western civilization.

ELDER LIES AND GET'S PRAISED FOR IT! FALSE ACCUSATIONS AGAINST ME!

only in the jw mindset!!!.

I had a nice sixties wardrobe in high school. People were envious. My mom let a young co-worker stay with us rather than have her move in with her grungy boyfriend. She was a brunette with long hair. I was a blonde with very fine hair that I wore short. Sharon smoked cigarettes outside the house. I was accused of smoking cigarettes. Cigarettes! What an insult. I could do far better than cigarettes. Sharon would borrow my clothes and i would borrow her clothes. I was seen.....Their spy saw nothing. I attended meetings in a miniskirt. I was off the reservation.

May I ask your age? I've know long distance relationships that work. The long distance is a stressor. A camp experience is not the same as routine life.

I can not hear this song without tapping my foot
by nonjwspouse inbluegrass music to me is the most delightful, happifying music, esecially when outside, listening to it live.. one of my favorite entertainers has always amazed me with his talent on the banjo.
this clip with earl scruggs ( whos son was engaged to a friend of mine, which makes him even more of a special entertainer to me) and steve martin, (one of my very favorites in both hollywood and music genres) is one of my favorite clips of this song.
it shows the true humility of steve martin making sure the stage was not all about him, even though he was more well known in hollywood.. i wish, really wish, one of my kids would have taken up the banjo.

Blue grass music is not a favorite of mine. Some of it isn't bad. My musical vocabulary is limited so I don't know how to explain what I like. It was presented as good, clean music in contrast to the Beatles, the heirs of Satan. Anything I liked was too worldly. I doubt if Manhattan is a blue grass venue. It would be nice to know more.

Perhaps it was a parody. Someone posted how evil it was for a man to tip his hat to a woman. He is elevating her above him. I just thought it was a nice social custom. The standard should be what is pagan now. I became very angry.
When my father acted out, which was often, "you're wearing the pants" was the biggest insult. May some man explain to me why men want ugly wives. My mom wore makeup, bangs (extreme violence re: bangs, the mark of the whore), nice outfits. After the marriage, it was plain Jane. I've noticed the same with other couples.
My remaining JW relatives won't say "boo" to me. Yes, it is nice to not have the strain but it also feels goods to have a choice. My sister invited all the relatives to her wedding. I don't believe we are supposed to have the address of some. The JW relatives behaved better than the worldly ones. My aunt and cousin sneaked in to the church to see her in her gown. They just stayed at the back. His family is Arabic so the differences must have been sharp.
My Arabic brother-in-law does not want me at family functions. His relatives ask for me. They lie and say I am not interested. Christmas and Easter are difficult. I don't even make it to church b/c the rejection is so keen. It has been many years since I saw the inside of their home. A few tears were sliding down my face during the Christmas Eve service. I did not want to appear pathetic. The priest said I could relax in my own home and not have my religion and politcal party attacked in a crass manner. She was right. I would like a choice, however. Other people were saying "Merry Christmas." I noticed that a majority of them were terrified of what was going to happen at the family dinner. I do not want to be yelled out. Neighbors believe she is abused.

They should have standards for the parents. School made the big difference in my life and it was a notoriously bad school. It is now ranked fourth from the bottom in the entire state of New Jersey. The state took over the school district. When I saw the headlines in the New York Times, I did a victory dance. Also, the movers and shakers for my generation could all be visited in the federal penn. My parents were very bright but the Witnesses left them with an elementary school education. I am strong in the Humanities b/c I could self teach. Math and science were different. Parents can only know one or two subject areas.
The academics may be the easiest part. I could enter the Foreign Service with what I learned navigating between classes. There were several distinct cultures in the school. If my mom would work at a commutation schedule, I could have attended Brearly on scholarship. Maybe I would have hated the rich girls but the education would be first rate. Home schooling is incestuous. There may be occasional instances where it is wise. A lawsuit works better for bullies than home schooling.

Dr. Kent Bradly and Dr. Nancy Writebol's healings Prove to me there is a God!
by BucketShopBill ini get tired of using the argument of "the mystery of evil" to attack god but where are we when we see heroic acts of godly courage from great humans like dr. kent bradly and dr. nancy writebols wonderful works of love?
did you listen to dr. kent bradley's concern and loving compassion for west africa?
he's not angry superstitious mobs destroyed several make-shift medical facilities to treat victims of ebola, no, dr. bradly implored the world to "help save west africa".

Karen Armstrong's book on the Axis religions opened my eyes. C.S. Lewis made the same argument in Mere Christianity. People around the world do good for other people. I suspect Doctors Without Borders has many atheists. Faith or no faith some people are motivated to serve. What loving God would allow the ebola virus? Why these two admittedly good examples but hundreds of others dead. Why did not the colored people in its path receive the experimental vaccine. Emory University could have helped the hundreds of them. It is a dilemna. I've pondered it since preschool. There is no neat answer.
I used to work in antipoverty agencies before attending law school. NYC had a great mayor. It was an exciting time. Catholic Charities impressed me so much. My father would be impressed. They were in the jails, in housing rehabs, soup kitchens, etc. on the front line. Granted, the nuns seemed more sophisticated than the stereotypical nun. I believe in the Social Gospel-and other gospels. I saw frenetic parishoners of my church using a ruler to place the settings at a Thanksgiving Dinner for the homeless. They were served five or six meals. Too much when all they get is watered down soup and pb sandwiches for regular fare.
I started out with a little girl's princess dreams so I've read a fair amount of European history. It is sad to say but the social justice gospel has never gained much steam. Bishops are political animals. Whether a country stayed Roman Catholic or changed to Protestant was mostly a matter of politics rather than religion. I do volunteer but I could do more. The Witnesses have me afraid to commit. Once a priest was standing by the door, bidding people good bye, when I introduced myself as a local student. He said he hoped he would be seeing me. Well, no more Witness orders! I did not stop by for a year.
